Joshua 1:9, is a life changing way to R.E.S.T. in The Lord: Interestingly enough, God doesn’t say what “to do.” He is telling Joshua how to “Be” or not “Be.” And the power to “Be” strong, courageous & fearless is made possible by the relationship we have with God who is with us. Indeed, God is confident Joshua will “Be” successful, and overcome because He has God’s presence and power making these things happen.
The Vineyard
This reminds me of John 15: Here Jesus tells us “I am the vine, you are the branches. If you abide in me, and I abide in you, you WILL bear much fruit; ” additionally, He describes The Father’s Presence in us as the ONE who, prunes us to cause us to be fruit filled. And, while we are abiding in our relationship with the Father, and Jesus, via the Holy Spirit flowing through the vineyard, miracles of fruit bearing occur. Again, the miracle of fruit bearing occurs as we simply BE still and stay in the vineyard. God empowers us to accomplish a harvest of fruit for God’s Eternal Kingdom.
In other words, it’s not about our religiosity, it’s about our relationship with God that empowers us to BE people who do God’s will.
